    As far as i know the XMPP transpor / gateway features are "not client related".(When it comes to sending / receiving messages)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMPP#Connecting_to_other_protocols

    If your server offers these protocols, all you need to do is to add your ICQ friends to your contact list (roster).
    Therefore you might wanna use pidgin or jitsi on your desktop, choose the transport, add your friend(s) and restart / re-login with CS.
    Your friends should show up now.

    (I know this is a workaround, but i guess this feature not on CS's top priority list ;) )

    Some of those protocols are available via XMPP transports / gateways (server side), you might wanna take a look:

    Loosing the connection is not that great;
    but the bigger problem is, you loosing messages because of that.
    XEP-0198 could solve this i guess
    (not loosing messages because of connectivity issues).

    Sadly this is not (yet) implemented into chatsecure :(
    For updates, you might have a look at: https://dev.guardianproject.info/issues/157

    @anonymous
    just had to look it up, on f-droid it's form the 24.01.2014, on google play store it's from 15.01.2014.

    Are those builds the same?
    Does anyone know, when those builds get updated?

    I can follow the changes at the git repository,
    but i don't know how long it takes for those changs to appear at the playstore.

    Here's what you might have been looking for:
    https://guardianproject.info/apps/

    beneath Chatsecure is a link to the latest *.apk.

    Nevertheless, that link should:
    1. be updated, caus it links to 'gibberbot-latest.apk' chatsecure's predecessor.
    2. the link should be added to chatsecure.org, some place visible.
